June 2018 Enrichment News Letter

June was filled with new activities and friends! In our first few weeks of social wellness we got to meet new friends and teachers. In social skills, we had a blast playing finish the story. We used our imagination to create fun and silly stories about the characters from Mario, the Incredibles, and the Karate Kid. In physical activity, we raced popcorn across the room! We used our core strength and balance to stand on one foot to dump our popcorn in our team’s bucket! We got to use our five senses to explore new food in food games. We are looking forward to more fun activities inside and outside at social wellness!

May 2018 Enrichment Newsletter

May was a musical month where we got to practice rhythm with homemade maracas during Cinco de Mayo and drums during Art! On our warm, sunny days, we practiced gross motor skills while playing hopscotch and duck, duck, goose. We are loving our new outdoor play area! We practiced generating hypothesis during our experiment in science. Watching a seed grow was fascinating! One of our friends even had a leaf begin to grow, how neat! To conclude our last full month of Enrichment we learned about Memorial Day and why it is important. To show our support to the soldiers, Enrichment had a parade in the building with red, white, and blue necklaces. We are so excited to start summer!

April 2018 Enrichment Newsletter

April was full of imagination! In science we pretended to be botanists as well as zoologists when we got to discover brand new plants and animals. In Art we began experimenting with pointillism art and modeling clay! We all had so much fun creating statues and then smashing them to start all over again! In math we used shapes to create a shape monster! As we jumped into May, we got to go outside for our first recess! We prepared for recess by having a community safety class and practicing staying in line. When we got outside, we enjoyed a game of zombie tag, duck duck goose, and ended on a game of red light green light. We are so excited to begin enjoying the sunshine as the weather warms up!

March 2018 Enrichment Newsletter

March was a magical month in the Enrichment classroom. A visitor was playing tricks on us by running all around the room, leaving little footprints on all our things. We built traps to try and sneak a peak at the little leprechaun. Our friends had no such luck, but we found a surprise in our traps! Golden coins, a necklace and a shamrock pencil were left as a reward for our efforts. Better luck next year! In science we created “guitars” to experiment with vibrations and sound. We practiced sharing our work to the class when we made our own treasure maps! Finally, we measured objects around the room using length, height and weight. We are so excited to spring into April!

February 2018 Enrichment Newsletter

February was full of celebrations! We began with a lesson on Groundhog’s Day where we found out we have 6 more weeks of winter! Oh no! Next up was Valentine’s Day where we were able to practice socialization and “thinking of you” behavior when passing out valentines to our peers. We got to participate in experiments such as dissolving candy hearts in water and classifying objects using only our sense of hearing. We learned a new technique in Art called blending to create beautiful sunsets with our messy brushes. As February came to an end, we began brainstorming ways to catch a little friend who visits us in March. We can’t wait to see if we can trick the Leprechaun and find his golden coins!
